Samsung is betting on Flash disk drives - Softpedia News
I wondered why this couldn't be done way back when I got my first digital camera with a memory wafer that looked like a hard disk to the computer. Then I saw all these little flash memory keychain type devices that are basically digital hard drives. Why not use this technology on a larger scale to replace the spinning disks, platters, the vulnerable moving parts that have trashed data for us from time to time? I remember in the 80's there was a memory card they called "bubble memory" that was supposed to replace hard drives. I also remember some industry pundit predicting bacteria based memory, and storage. Well maybe we will have to settle for flash memory.

The dry or wry humor of those New Yorker cartoons is good sometimes, but I didn't know you could get T-shirts, notecards, framed prints for $350, etc. of your favorite nihilistic cartoon.

Deep Sea Creatures
Here are some definitely weird, wonderful and surprising deep sea creatures posted on this page. Somehow we forget that we have so little knowledge about the animals in the ocean (except for dolphins and the sharks, which are on TV more than Larry King ). I didn't visit the source of these images, www.exploretheabyss.com, that is referenced, but I plan to do so.
