Ken Burns Effect
In an attempt to keep up on my cultural literacy, I note a new example of technology inserting itself into the commonly understood language. Now we have "The Ken Burns Effect".

Ken Burns, in his wonderful documentary and historical video series, incuding Jazz, The Civil War, Baseball, and more, did not invent, but used, fine-tuned and established a technique that has been branded with his name in the graphics, video, film, and presentation world. A flat and regular photograph is made to seem like a moving picture. Through the use of panning and zooming, the mind and eyes are led in, out and around a photo, cleverly telling a story and appearing fluid enough to be a movie.

The proof of the word's universal use and understanding is that the effect appears right on the drop menus of all the graphic world's software, automating or enabling the "Ken Burns Effect"
